Unknown Phidippus - Phidippus audax

Unknown Phidippus - Phidippus audax
Wolf Park, Battle Ground, Tippecanoe County, Indiana, USA
August 21, 2008
Size: 1/2 inch
Thought this was just another P. audax but now I'm not too sure. It matches up with P. princeps but I want another opinion (ie someone who knows what they are doing)

Moved
Moved from Phidippus.

Go ahead
and move to Phidippus for now and I can take a closer look later.. Might be hard to I'd beyond genus.

other photos
I do have other shots of this guy, if you would like to see another body part.

If you
have a shot of the face, that might be helpful, but these are probably good enough.

This isn't a mature specimen, so that makes identification a little tricky. I basically need to go through the published range maps or the Indiana state spider list (which does exist I think) and rule out all the possibilities based on markings until I hopefully end up with just one.

I'd put it in audax right this second if it weren't for the reddish scales in the ocular band and lateral abdomen. I'm not sure if that's just an odd color variation, or a sign of things to come when this one matures.
