Explanation of Names

Specific epithet for the forewing "white patches presenting a fan-like appearance." (1)

Size

Forewing length: ♂ 13-15.5 mm, ♀ up to 20 mm. (3)

Range

Known from California south into Baja California, Mexico, Nevada, Arizona and west Texas. (3), (4), (5)

Type locality: Gila County, Arizona.

Habitat

Deserts and desert mountains. (3), (5)

Season

There are records of adults from late May to late November. (3), (5), (6), (4)
