I have no clue what this butterfly is, is it part of Family Nymphalidae -Brush-footed Butterflies?
It looks like a way lost cousin of the fritillaries.

Phyciodes cocyta
It's a female Northern Crescent. The fact that it is female and still shows a relatively broad unbroken patch of orange on the wings is pretty common in this species, and not so in the Pearl. There are other little details too (such as the orange antenna tips - not diagnostic, since some Pearl Crescents show it too, but pretty much always present on Northern Crescents). Location favors northern too, though they might both be there.

I believe this is one of the crescents...
probably Northern considering your location, but you should also check out Tawny and Pearl.
