Xyleborinus attenuatus (?) - Xyleborinus attenuatus

Xyleborinus attenuatus (?) - Xyleborinus attenuatus
Nasonworth, York County, New Brunswick, Canada
May 23, 2022
Size: ~3.0 mm
I hope I keyed this out right, but I'm still new to bark beetles.
Best pictures I could manage.

Found indoors - we burn firewood, so likely came in that way.

Looks more like
Xyleborinus saxesenii to me. The squiggle makes me think you eyeballed the length. How accurate is that?

X. saxesenii is 2.0-2.4 mm and X. attenuatus is 2.5-2.8 mm.

If I had nothing else to go on, I would place this in X. saxesenii.

3 mm
It was a +/- 0.2 mm squiggle. Definitely in the 3.0 mm range.
Added an image with a ruler. Sorry I can't take better pictures - best I could do with my set up.

No worries
that settles it!

Thanks!
I appreciate the feedback and confirmation! :-)
