Heliothis acesias
I think this is Heliothis acesias. This species is considered as a synonym of H. phloxiphaga in the Hodges' List and does not have its own #. It is however a good species.

Hmm..
It was I.D.ed was an expert around here but I will consider it.

See here:

Apparently it is rare up here and it looks alot different
If it isn't Flax it would berare which would be nice.

Pea family (Fabaceae)
The flowers it's nectaring on are papilionaceous...and from the head-like inflorescence it looks like Trifolium. Definitely not anything in the Flax family (Linaceae). Of course, adults may well take nectar from plants other than their larval host plant. (So by "Flax", I guess you were referring to the "Flax Bollworm"...not the plant in the image.)

Heliothis ononis looks good to me,
based on photos at U. of Alberta and CBIF that show a grayish forewing with reddish tint near base (and on tegulae), plus dark median and subterminal bands, as in your photo. H. acesias has a more yellowish forewing with no reddish tint to the base or tegulae, and fainter median and subterminal bands. Was the ononis ID by Gary Anweiler at U. of Alberta?

I agree with Robin - Heliothi
I agree with Robin - Heliothis ononis. Thanks for the correction.

Thanks for confirmation
Robin, no it was not by Gary Anweiler. I have not met him yet.

Re: No species page
I couldn't find one either. While it hasn't worked well for me, there's a forum to request new guide pages: http://bugguide.net/forum/14
