Montana tarantula? - Tigrosa grandis - female

Montana tarantula? - Tigrosa grandis - Female
Montana, USA
August 15, 2008
Size: 3 inches
What is this? We aren't close to any water, and often find them in old wood piles. It is not aggressive and eats lots of grasshoppers! We always call them tarantulas, but don't suppose they are.

Moved
Moved from Western species that might be Tigrosa grandis.
Tentative placement on account of the cheeks not presenting as light as other examples but otherwise appears to be T. grandis.

Moved
Moved from Tigrosa/Hogna-like with narrow median carapace stripe.
Sorry about all the picture moving. I'm trying to get these sorted out. :)

Moved
Moved from Wolf Spiders.

Moved
Moved from Spiders.

Not a tarantula
Definitely a wolf spider, possibly a Hogna sp.

Hogna
The pictures you sent me to are another bunch we have around here. But they are much more aggressive and longer legged than the one I have. I knew they were wolf spiders but didn't know this one was. Thanks for any input!
