MrILoveTheAnts was right the first time. This is Pachycondyla chinensis, an invasive species that's increasingly common in the Southeast.

 
It is either a Ponera or Hypo
It is either a Ponera or Hypoponera sp.

I don't think Ponera has spiny larva. Of course I'm basing this one what I believe to be Ponera in my yard.

 
If it is...
one of the two, I bet you it's Hypoponera.
