Tiger beetle, 12:41pm - Cicindela duodecimguttata
Elk Island NP, Alberta, Canada
August 10, 2008
I took this distance shot to make sure I had a record of whatever species this is. On the shore of a large lake, very sandy. I have looked through the list of Alberta tiger beetles and can't find any maches to this. The first one I saw was the 12-spotted. I don't think this is that species though.

Could probably be frassed.

12-spotted
Actually, I think this really is a Twelve-spotted, Cicindela duodecimguttata.

Is it possibly
Cicindela oregona (Oregon Tiger Beetle)?

Any other thoughts on this?

Ranges
At that location, it should be duodecimguttata. Acorn's book shows oregeona only on the western edge in the mountains. Of course, a clearer photo would be useful to check features like the frons. These species do hybridize, but that location is far from where oregona is known to occur.
