Hybrid sulphur? - Colias eurytheme - male

Hybrid sulphur? - Colias eurytheme - Male
Edmonton, Alberta, Canada
July 24, 2008
Size: Large for a sulphur.
According to John Acorn's book, hybrid sulphurs are slightly darker philodice with a faint orange patch on each forewing. That seems to fit this odd butterfly.

The tear-drop spot is interesting but perhaps not consequential.

Moved from Colias.

two cents worth
To me it looks like a normal C. eurytheme. They often are more yellow than most people allow for. However, I suppose it could be an intermediate.
