Rove 1 - Pinophilus latipes

Rove 1 - Pinophilus latipes
Near Ruraldale, Upshur County, West Virginia, USA
May 29, 2006
Size: 7.2 mm
Attracted to lights. ID help appreciated.

Moved
Moved from Pinophilus.

Many apologies
Many apologies, the size I originally posted (7.2 mm) was not correct. Going over my notes today, I found my error, and see the correct size for this beetle is 16.2 mm. Given that size, Pinophilus latipes seems the likely ID, and it is one of the three species found anywhere near West Virginia, juding from my reading (the other two are smaller, P. parcus and P. opacus).

Thanks
Moved from Rove Beetles.

Adam, thanks very much!

Pinophilus sp.
Cheers,

Adam
