River Haven Drive at 2100 feet in the Sierra foothills, Mariposa County, California, USA

In a residential flower garden nectaring on asters. This individual was noticeably larger than other B. vonnesenski I commonly see in my yard all summer. Also it is the only B. vonnesenski I have seen here in over a month. I suspect it is a new queen from this year getting ready to look for a spot to spend the winter.
