The Bride - Catocala neogama - male

The Bride - Catocala neogama - Male
Cross Plains, Dane County, Wisconsin, USA
August 28, 2008
Size: ~35-40mm
Found on the north facing side of the house. Underwing moth - Catocala perhaps?

Moved from Youthful Underwing.

This probably is neogama. The basal dash is very faint, and the closed subreniform spot with faint brown scaling within suggests as much, but this specimen is very questionable when compared to the voucher specimens of subnata/neogama, so this comment serves as an asterisk for the ID.

Yes
This is a species of Catocala; I believe it's a male Catocala subnata.
