Tiny beetle - Mycetophagus punctatus

Tiny beetle - Mycetophagus punctatus
Moccasin Lake, Winston, Douglas County, Georgia, USA
August 30, 2008
Size: about 2 -3 mm
I didn't notice the colors until I viewed it in the camera. Very tiny little guy. Any help with ID would be appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Check Litargus.

Thank you
I appreciate you looking into this beetle, but I'm still somewhat puzzled. In my image the central black markings do not meet whereas in Litargus they do. The only one I can find that has a similar pattern and coloration is Mycetophagus punctatus, but the sizes are different. My size estimate could very well be wrong as it was only a visual estimate.

was a possibility; it could be Mycetophagus but it seems awfully small for that genus. There are quite a few species of Litargus and I wouldn't tie everything to color pattern.

i'd still say, M. punctatus
i think the size could've been underestimated a bit (like, by 1.5 mm)
