Commercial compost springtails

Commercial compost springtails
Peru, LaSalle County, Illinois, USA
November 14, 2022
I decided to culture some more commercial soil. These and three other species popped up. Hoping to find time to isolate and photograph the rest soon!

I wasn’t trying particularly hard with these images but still hoping ID can go past Isotomidae haha

Isotomidae
is indeed the best match ;-)

It could be Proisotoma minuta or Hemisotoma thermophila for example.

I will browse around to see…
what features I will have to photograph for further ID ;P

A close-up of
the eyepatch might help. I need to see the 8 individual ocelli.
