FWL males = 11-19 mm; FWL females = 17-20 mm (1)

Forewing ground color pale to dark yellow and overlaid with scales that give it an ocherous to greenish color; nominal form from northern Great Plains has pale shading along costa, beyond reniform and often in the fold, with some fuscous shading often below cubital vein that creates a diffuse basal dash; southern Great Plains form is less contrasting, often with no streaking evident; PM line usually showing as black dots on wing veins; fringe concolorous with wing base with outer row of scales white. Hindwing pale fuscous to fuscous with fringe fuscous basally and white on outer edge. Male antenna narrowly bipectinate. (1)

Copablepharon serratigrande occurs further west, forewing/hindwing are paler and male antenna are biserrate. (1)

Copablepharon nevada has limited range in dunes of western Nevada (1)

Copablepharon columbia flies in spring and has very limited range in Columbia Basin of Washington. (1)

Copablepharon michiganensis is larger, has more muted FW pattern, has hindwing that is pale basally and hindwing fringe is entirely white. (1)
