Thanks so much for the ID information and help with regards to this insect being in the Bee Fly family Geron. I checked out the references in your embedded link (from Joel Kits):
"Distinctive characteristics of this genus are the humpbacked appearance, the conical shape of the abdomen, long antennae with a tapered 3rd segment, and the wing venation"
My only question: is it really a "long antennae" or is it a proboscis? Otherwise, it seems to fit with what I have photographed!
