Ceresa sp. -
Stictocephala taurina
Amherst, Hampshire County, Massachusetts, USA
August 31, 2008
Size: 3/8"
Found a pair of these on shafts of Foxtail Grass near row of Blueberries.
I read another post that a front image would be helpful, so I've added that.
Thanks for any ID help.

Ceresa taurina
Short, sharp "horns" and lots of large, pale spots on the crest are characteristic of this species.

Spissistilus won't have horns
as yours does. This is more likely one of the Ceresa. Dr Hamilton will know species. Meanwhile look around here

Thanks John and Jane
It does look more like Ceresa festina. But I've already been wrong once, so I'll wait and see if Dr. Hamilton agrees.
