Ground Mantid - Litaneutria pacifica

Ground Mantid - Litaneutria pacifica
Carrizo Plains National Monument, San Luis Obispo County, California, USA
April 8, 2008
This guy was very small and cryptically colored. It moved in quick and sporadic bursts and its legs were totally camouflaged. At first I thought it was some totally new sort of creature, though after getting a few discernible photos I presumed it was a mantid nymph.

I'm guessing it's Litaneutria minor, due to its arid habitat and the close similarity to this photo: .

...I found more info, including a discussion & range map for L. pacifica, on the March 11 "panel" within your ResearchGate project log. Great work! :-)
