The spider was long gone, so my wife freed it, and it looked as happy as cicadas look

Definately only a few days old.
Due to the lack of pruinosity I'd say this is a newly emerged specimen, only one or two days old. That white waxy buildup that most Tibicen species have on their undersides takes a few days to develop.
