Bee Fly - Exoprosopa rostrifera

Bee Fly - Exoprosopa rostrifera
Texas Canyon, Dragoon, Cochise County, Arizona, USA
August 14, 2008
I spotted this little beauty near the pond on the grounds where I work, in a rural desert area about 16 miles east of Benson, Ariz.
I've gotten this close with my ID and am not sure what exact family to put this in.

ID
This is our third shot of the handsome Exoprosopa rostrifera. It has by far the longest bill of any US Exoprosopa. The white belt on a uniformly brown-patterned abdomen are characteristic, too.

Suggestion: Move your post to Bee Flies
if nothing happens here in a few days. Very nice specimen and photo.
