Scymnus nebulosus
California location, semi-random blotchy dark spots, dark median area on pronotum - nothing else quite like it!

to family page for now. We don't seem to have subfamily or tribe pages for these beetles.

been talked about
the addition of subfamily/tribe pages has been talked about specifically for this family, and generally in the BugGuide forums. Generally it seems several of our professional experts are against it, due to the ever changing makeup of these subdivisions (just look up almost any large family in Am Beetles and you'll likely see this same comment). But the result more "clutter" at the family level. Seems we've only proven again that we'll never please all of the people all of the time :(

Coccinellidae
Scymninae, possibly Scymnus.

Thank you Michael
for the possible genus ID.
