Mud Dauber Nest? - Eumenes

Mud Dauber Nest? - Eumenes
Rancho Santa Ana Botanic Garden, Los Angeles County, California, USA

Size: ~1cm diameter
I'm guessing this is a mud dauber nest. Probably some sort of potter wasp. Any chance of recognizing the species? Eumenes bollii looks similar, but it could be that every species in the family builds nests like this.

Could you please add
the approximate site at RSABG where you found this?

sorry but that was almost 2 y
sorry but that was almost 2 years ago. Probably it was on some structure, but I've only ever been there once, and beyond that I really couldn't tell you.

Thanks for trying to recall, Elliotte -
Perhaps on the outdoor classroom on the Mesa.

Potter wasp does not = mud dauber.
Potter wasps and mud daubers are in different familes. These are indeed the nests of a potter wasp, and E. bollii is probably your common species there.
