Looks like Scudderia mexicana
which is sometimes considered a subspecies of S. furcata.

Moved from Scudder's Bush Katydids.

not from the thorax...
but the ovipositer is generally a good sign that it's a female.

well, I saw the ovipositor but didn't know what it was called and wasn't sure if it was male or female anatomy, so now I know!
