Pretty certain of the ID. I haven't done an exhaustive search, but this might be the first host association for the species.
Correction: Monne & Nearns (2022) lists
Cycas rumphii
Miquel (Cycadaceae) as a host.

Interesting!
It may be that the insect was only using the stem as a day-time refuge. The top of the plant was withered, papery, and dry, and had signs of prior occupation by other insects (for example, there was also desiccated scutallerid inside the stem.)

Chance encounter
Thanks for providing that info. I suspect you're correct in that the beetle was just looking for shelter. I've seen that happen quite frequently with longhorns and other insects.
