Southern Bee Killer on Polistes comanchus navajoe - Mallophora orcina

Southern Bee Killer on Polistes comanchus navajoe - Mallophora orcina
Near Sierra Vista, Cochise County, Arizona, USA
September 3, 2008
Size: unknown
On Miller Canyon Trail at 5900 feet elevation. Riparian area in oak/confier zone.

Excellent
Quality shot (especially large format) of Mallophora orcina. This one does occur into the southwest. AZ has only this and fautrix in this genus. The fine tips on the antenna in this Laphria-looking beast are well seen.

Cool photo!!
