I think that it is probably a male. (one frenulum = ♂)
Did you film the other side of the wings?

 
Mystery Moth
Sadly, no, I wasn't able to. I was only able to get a couple pictures of it from this angle with its wings up (this was the best one; my phone at the time was terrible), and it flew off before I was able to see it open them.

I've tried to do some digging myself in the meantime, though; could it possibly be Lomographa? The wing shape and posture, eyes, and coloration all seem very similar to this one.
