Tachysphex, male (ON)
Either T. pompiliformis or T. tarsatus. It looks like the base of the abdomen (below the wings) is mostly red, correct?

I think the purple /red is a reflection from the sun. I do not remember any red. This little creature was only about 1/4 inch, very small.
