Treehopper - Stictopelta marmorata

Treehopper - Stictopelta marmorata
Anza-Borrego Desert State Park, San Diego County, California, USA
June 25, 2000
Size: BL ~ 8 mm
This treehopper was first seen eating pods of Honey Mesquite in Sentenac Cienega, ABDSP. When it saw me, it hopped to a twig. I have tried to identify it for years.

Great find!

Not an ID -
but looks a lot like this image of Stictopelta I found on the web. We have one image of this genus in Bug Guide that also looks similar... Dr. Hamilton will probably comment on this nice image.

Hi Ken,

The two images you point out certainly do resemble my treehopper, the same genus if not the same species. And the Arizona image was also on Mesquite. Thanks so much.
