Giant Robber Fly - Promachus nigrialbus

Giant Robber Fly - Promachus nigrialbus
West of Benson, Cochise County, Arizona, USA
September 1, 2008
I believe I have matched this one to an image and description in the "National Audubon Society Field Guide to the Southwestern States."
They call it a Giant Robber Fly. I spotted this one at around 3:00 pm on an Agave plant in my front yard, 4,600 elevation in a rural desert area.

Promachus nigrialbus
Thank you Herschel.

Robber
Appears to be a very trim male Promachus with that white terminal hairiness. Impressive thing. It is not a species I know. I will check the key later.

I can't make this into anything but Promachus nigrialbus. Nice shot.
