Labidomera? - Labidomera clivicollis

Labidomera? - Labidomera clivicollis
World Birding Center HQ at Bentsen-Rio Grande Valley State Park, Hidalgo County, Texas, USA
March 24, 2007
Seems to match this genus, and maybe even be within the range of variation for clivicollis. What stumps me is, we have just short of diddly for milkweeds around here, and this beetle was an acre away from what little we do have... Both times I have encountered it, it was on leaves of Malvaceae. Passiflora and other plants nearby.

Moved
Moved from Labidomera based on comments by Ed Riley, who added that their main food plant in the LRGV are climbing milkweed vines (Cynchanum sp.).
