Cochylis carmelana.... again? - Cochylis carmelana
The Huntington Botanical Gardens, Los Angeles County, California, USA
April 6, 2023
I'm always scared of identifying polymorphic taxa from similar looks alone.

Flew out of a parking lot sage(?) bush when I kicked it; was found in more or less the same area. An image of a sage(?) that looked identical (but was not the exact bush it exited) can be found here: https://www.inaturalist.org/observations/153764636

If all the bushes in that patch were Salvia clevelandii then this might imply the thing has more than one host; Moths of Western NA says "larva undocumented, adult associated with S. mellifera".

Moved, Cochylis carmelana
Moved from Butterflies and Moths. Must be; nice
