Northern California Spider - Larinioides patagiatus - male

Northern California Spider - Larinioides patagiatus - Male
Sundial Bridge, Turtle Bay, Redding, Trinity County, California, USA
August 28, 2008
Size: About 2 inches w/legs
I was out under the Sundial bridge at about 2 PM and these spiders were running around frantically on the ground, walls, and underside of the bridge. All the specimens I saw up close were males (going by the smaller abdomens and large pedipalps), with the females (with much thicker abdomens) staying pretty much stationary on the underside of the bridge. I tried, but they were too high up to take photos of. I did see some orb-like webs on the bridge, but no hard evidence to say these were the spiders that made them.

I got as far as Entelegynes (I think) for this species, but I'm very new to the process.
