Doodlebug - Paranthaclisis floridensis

Doodlebug - Paranthaclisis floridensis

Seabranch Preserve State Park, Stuart, Martin County, Florida, USA
May 1, 2022
This larva was found burrowing aimlessly beneath the white sands along the edge of a hiking trail. The low resolution is due to this photo having been taking using a cellphone (as my camera and macro lens had been stolen in February of 2022.)

Alright, thanks for updating these.

Since this is indeed from Florida, there's one Paranthaclisis in range. This verifies the genus. Additionally, this both adds a new species into the Guide and is the first example of a larva for the genus in the Guide.

Can you double-check that this was taken in New Hampshire? From what I see here, there's a singular mandibular tooth, which should point to Paranthaclisis. This also aligns fairly well with the specimen pictured in Stange & Miller (1985). However, that genus is primarily western, apart from one species in Florida, and certainly absent from New Hampshire.

This keeps happening
When I upload photos, for some reason the actual state I enter doesn't make it to the final post and it defaults to New Hampshire. I mean, EVERYTHING ELSE about the location information is CLEARLY pointing to Florida, NOT New Hampshire. New Hampshire doesn't even have a Martin County!
Any ways, sorry for the trouble.
