Fly??? - Haplusia rubra

Fly??? - Haplusia rubra
Moccasin Lake, Winston, Douglas County, Georgia, USA
September 9, 2008
Size: about 6 - 8 mm
While out looking for interesting insects, this pale fly(?) flew in front of me a lit on a small leaf. Any help with an ID would be appreciated. I have no idea what it is. It was about 6 to 8 mm (estimated) in body length.

Haplusia rubra
This fly is Haplusia rubra (Felt). (Cecidomyiidae)

Maybe something near

Thank you
I think your right. It has the same coloration on the legs, the body is the same orange and the eyes are dark, plus it has basically the same markings on the wings. My size estimate is probably way off due to the fact I was concentrating on getting its photo. I'll leave it where it's at and see if anyone else has some thoughts on it.

Looks like
a fly to me but I've never seen anything like it.
