Batrisodes (Excavodes) lineaticollis
A male as you surmised. The large antennomere 10 (11th broken off on one side) and the form of the front give this one away.

These are odd looking little beetles, and a favorite of Don Chandler. So I saved the specimen for him, and if it's a male, he'll probably get it to species.
