black and yellow Bee - Anacrabro ocellatus

black and yellow Bee - Anacrabro ocellatus
Fort Bragg, Cumberland County, North Carolina, USA
June 28, 2005
Size: about 10 mm

Crabronid.
What a fantastic image of Anacrabro ocellatus! This is the only species in its genus in North America. It is very distinctive once you become familiar with the Crabroninae subfamily of Sphecidae. Nice work, Lynette:-)

Thanks
It took me a long time to get this shot as the bee was quite active. I am becoming familiar with the bees and wasps in the area and was pretty sure this was something new.
