Megachilid Bee? Anthidium maculatum? - Anthidium maculifrons -

I originally thought this must be a melissodes. I have been steered towards megachilid and possibly Anthidium maculatum. Behavior observed: This bee kept buzzing me and landing on my pants and photographers vest and appears to be licking the material. It lighted on me multiple times over a ten minute period and only stopped because I had to move on.

unlike maculatum this is a native Anthidium species
