Small Dark Bee with Light Bands on Ohio Buckeye - Colletes inaequalis

Small Dark Bee with Light Bands on Ohio Buckeye - Colletes inaequalis
Junction City, 15 mi. SE, Bottomland Prairie Restoration, Geary County, Kansas, USA
April 23, 2023
Size: 3/8-1/2"
From some angles, the light abdominal bands could appear quite bright. From others, the impression remained of a mostly dark small bee, with furriness not all over but framing the torso and other body parts. This bee was an eager visitor to the just-opening flowers of Ohio Buckeye.
