Spider/Scorpion looking bug!

Spider/Scorpion looking bug!
Queen Creek, Pinal County, Arizona, USA
September 14, 2008
Size: Approx. 2 inches
Found this in my flower bed, when he was flooded out of his home he was pretty mad! He didn't like being poked or prodded either! Sadly he has passed away, not long after the photo was taken. Are these things poisonous. I don't know if I have more or not, or what to do if I see more. HELP!

See guide page
here for more information.

Solifuge.
This is a non-venomous arachnid called a solifuge, aka "camel spider," "sun spider," "wind scorpion," etc. They are generally nocturnal, and prey on any animal smaller than they are. No cause for alarm, unless you are a cockroach:-)
