Unknown Cicada - Platypedia

Unknown Cicada - Platypedia
Elkton, Douglas County, Oregon, USA
May 24, 2008
Size: approx. 1 inch
Very obliging little fellow. This is the first and only Cicada of this kind I've seen in the yard - been living here 17 years. Help in identifying what kind it is would be greatly appreciated.

Freshly-emerged=slow:-)
LOL! This one just emerged from its nymphal exoskeleton. The pigments haven't even fully manifested yet. 'Has' to be a species of Platypedia I would think. Not a lot of other 'early' (spring) cicadas in the NW.
