B. grandiceps
B. grandiceps seems to fit best - objections before I move it?

(too large for B. parviceps, and a little small from B.ocularis, and neither are previously listed from NJ)

I see nothing inconsistent with 'Badister grandiceps'
except for the misleading dull luster which I think results from your diffused light settings to avoid reflected shine. 'Badister grandiceps' is very shiny with strongly iridescent elytra. In retrospect, the low reflective quality might be part of the reason why some of your past images have thrown me off the track from otherwise easy identifications. Thankfully Curt Harden was more "enlightened" in those cases :) It didn't help that I sometimes overlooked your posted body sizes.

Tim, as you know, I'm not a big fan of tele-identifications. I've cut that process down in favor of doing more physical determinations by comparing specimens from my well-represented synoptic set.
