Machele- Thanks! No such critter on BG so I renamed and left it where it is.

You are welcome
Jerry. I would wait to see what others say, I am just giving possibilities.

Machele- OK, Renamed moth
Machele- OK, Renamed moth

got me stumped
I'll be interested in seeing if anyone can id this one--I'm wondering if it's a stray from farther south?

Nina- I will wait with you.
Nina- I will wait with you.

I was really obsessing
I took about an hour looking through ALL the pyralid/crambid thumnails on BugGuide... AND... I went through ALL the thumbnails for ALL the species listed at Moth Photographer's Group, from the pre-torts to the very last one listed, which is Grotellini. There are some close ones within the Crambids, but that's about it, no match on the wing pattern, only wing shape.

Pyralid
Same here and I found nothing. Sigh.

btw
the closest I can find is Hileithia magualis, but it's not quite right.

I take some solace
in knowing I'm far from alone in my obsessive hunting activities! 8:)
Until someone bails us out on this one! I'm currently looking for a match on a texas-based site...
