tiny red and black bugs colonizing my yucca... - Halticotoma valida Austin, Travis County, Texas, USA September 17, 2008
these little guys are all over my yucca (i think it's a yucca) plant. they're riddling the leaves with bites and procreating madly. the recent cold snap hasn't affected them (not really cold, down to 60). they don't like to be jostled or observed, and flee the camera fairly quicker than i expected them to move. there seem to be a few generations living together, don't know if it's a nymph stage, though. pretty small, perhaps the size of a blunt pencil-tip.
