Spider Wasp & Golden Silk Orbweaver - Poecilopompilus algidus - female

Spider Wasp & Golden Silk Orbweaver - Poecilopompilus algidus - Female
Brooker Creek Preserve, Pinellas County, Florida, USA
September 16, 2008
Part of a set of images taken around the Education Center at the Brooker Creek Preserve.

Just as I was about to leave the preserve, I noticed one of these spiders hanging from a tree over the walkway. As I approached I found a wasp harassing the spider to the ground. One of the preserve's educators, Jim, joined in on watching the fight, and we both began snapping away. The wasp began hauling off its catch, but was soon interrupted by a nearby anole (Unfortunately, I wasn't quick enough on the draw to catch that part).

I'm hoping for an ID on the wasp. Thanks!
