Wolf face - Tigrosa aspersa - female

Wolf face - Tigrosa aspersa - Female
Conway, Faulkner County, Arkansas, USA
September 20, 2008
Size: 30mm body
Big dark female wolf, hiding on my back porch. I think it is a Hogna, but not carolinensis. Possibly helluo. Excellent thing. She is still out there now.

Moved
Moved from Wolf Spiders.
Some species of Hogna were moved to a new genus, Tigrosa.

Hogna aspersa
is more likely since it gets larger than helluo. Also aspersa is known for the yellow facial line.

Nice
shots, Herschel.
I wish I had those on my porch.

Another
Image here suggests this may be the dark form of Hogna aspersa because of the leg striping. Any comments?

I'm
not sure. I think you would have the best suggestion for ID since the spiders are on your house!

Well
She didn't hang around that long. It is the other wolf series after this one, the one living in her burrow on my road that was more interesting I think.
