Pupa day 22 - Spilosoma virginica

Pupa day 22 - Spilosoma virginica
Puyallup, Pierce County, Washington, USA
September 21, 2008
Size: pupa = 15 mm
On day 21 it finally pupated. I was actually worried that it had died. It remained like the pic on day 18 for two long days. I missed the actually transformation. It's pretty amazing that at one time this caterpillar was 40 mm and is now in this little 15 mm case.
