VERY LARGE BLACK BEETLE ON CONEFLOWER LEAF - Prionus laticollis

VERY LARGE BLACK BEETLE ON CONEFLOWER LEAF - Prionus laticollis
Greenville, Providence County, Rhode Island, USA
Size: 2 inches
I came across the VERY large beetle which was on a Coneflower leaf. It didn't walk, it just was "there". I don't have info. about the specific date, but I do know it was during the summer months of 2005.
I checked back later that day, but it was gone. I've never seen another one before or since.
