Oxycilla malaca - female

Oxycilla malaca - Female
Karnack, Harrison County, Texas, USA
July 26, 2023
Size: 9mm
The larva stopped feeding on 07/17 and pupated the next day. Photo is of the resulting pupa eight days later. Appears to be a female.

Of the five attempts at rearing four died pupating. Three were offered relatively dry peat moss, one was offered relatively moist sandy clay soil dug up from near the original host plant. This, the lone success, was left in the original rearing container with a bit of leaf litter added and the original moist paper towel used to keep the plant leaves viable. The paper towel was chosen.
