LeConte wrote all but the chapter on "Otiorhynchidae" (now part of the Entiminae).

My best thanks are due to my excellent collaborator, Dr. G. H. Horn, for his careful study and classification of the family Otiorhynchidae, certainly one of the most difficult among the Rhynchophora, and next to the genuine Curculionidae, the largest.
