Amber-abdomened Syrphid - Ferdinandea croesus - male

Amber-abdomened Syrphid - Ferdinandea croesus - Male
Granite Basin, Prescott, Yavapai County, Arizona, USA
September 22, 2008
I'm thinking Ferdinandea. Note two infuscations on median area of wing (better seen on another image). On Ponderosa Pine trunk.

Moved
Moved from Ferdinandea.

Yes
It's a male Ferdinandea sp. Nice!!
Greetings

Thank You
Thanks Gerard for the confirmation and all you do here at BugGuide. I'll mark it as a male.

And anyone can tell me if I didn't use the term "stigma" correctly; maybe I should have used a plural, "stigmata"...?

Stigma
Is not the correct term, in this case it's a small vein in the wing that is darkened (or infuscated) on the wing area around that vein!
Greetings

I Had a Notion I Had It Wrong. Thanks.
Maybe I can call those marks "infuscations".
